Severus! Hey wait a minute! A seventeen year old girl with curly chocolate tresses wearing the Gryffindor uniform ran toward a group of slytherins, waving toward one in particular. A tall boy with lanky arms and shiny, greasy hair turned around, his black eyes glittering in the sunlight. The girl stopped inches in front of him, the other slytherins crowding behind him. They all sneered and glowered at the girl, venom seething from their expressions.
What do you want?
I wanted to say
She looked around his boney shoulder at the other seventh years behind him. She picked out several she knew, all for negative reasons. Her voice dropped to near silence. I just wanted to wish you the best of luck, and all the happiness in the world. She smiled sweetly up at him.
Can we talk later? He whispered, looking back at the other slytherins and rolling his eyes. They all nodded and smirked at the gesture.
No, we cant
Im leaving right now. The girl was shocked to see a startling softness in the boys eyes.
Samantha I cant talk to you in front of them
You dont have to say anything. She looked down at her shoes, digging her toe into the soft soil of the Hogwarts grounds. Ill miss you a lot, you know.
Be safe, She whispered, her crystalline eyes flitting to his black ones, then immediately to a tree in the distance. Dont do anything
stupid. Okay? Before he could react, she threw her arms around him and hugged him tightly. Ill keep in touch, I swear.
Samantha, Merlin. He pushed her away from him at the goading of the future death eaters behind him. Do what you want, I dont care.
I care about what you do. She mumbled. There was a long silence between them, neither daring to look the other in the eye.
Come on, Sev, weve got somewhere to be. Bellatrixs voice broke the silence between the two and Severus nodded.
See you later, Samantha corrected, a half hearted smile on her lips. Severus turned from her silently, following the others. He didnt look back once.
